DRT Transportation Sponsors 2019 Responsible Care® & Sustainability Conference & Expo

Lebanon, Penn.: DRT Transportation, an asset-owning intermodal marketing company and third-party logistics provider, will be sponsoring the American Chemistry Council’s 2019 Responsible Care®& Sustainability Conference & Expo in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from Sunday, April 14 – Wednesday, April 17, 2019. DRT Transportation first became a Responsible Care Partner in 2017, and this year will be the first time they will be an event sponsor.

“We’re really excited to deepen our involvement with the Responsible Care program,” said President of DRT Transportation, Rob Kemp. “We’ve learned a tremendous amount about the impact our business can have on the world around us through our involvement with the Responsible Care program and are proud to be able to sponsor such a great event.”

Kemp first heard of the Responsible Care initiative in 2016, when a client asked if DRT was a partner. After doing some research, Kemp wanted to get involved. What he didn’t realize was how drastically DRT’s involvement in the Responsible Care initiative would transform DRT’s business as a whole.

“As we started developing and documenting processes and policies to align with the Responsible Care guiding principles, we brought that same procedural discipline and rigor to other areas of our business. Because we now have thorough processes, we can practice more responsible logistics not only for our chemical and HAZMAT clients but for all of our customers,” Kemp said.

In addition to the Process Safety, Product Safety and Security Codes required by the Responsible Care program, DRT implemented a Carrier Qualification Program and Dispatch Procedures to complement and enhance their existing Responsible Care work.

“Being part of Responsible Care has opened our eyes to how important health, safety, security, and the environment are,” said DRT Compliance Manager, Alicia Collins. “We’ve learned a lot about our company and have made positive process changes to protect not only our employees but also our customers, carriers and the public in general,” Collins said.

In addition to being an event sponsor, DRT will also be exhibiting at the conference. Kemp, Collins and DRT’s Vice President of National Accounts, Terry Roberts, will be set up at booth 18 at the 2019 Responsible Care®& Sustainability Conference & Expo.
